A track that truly is open to interpretation so there will be little said here. The band barely practiced this song going into the studio. It wasn't going to be a big deal if it didn't turn out well, but it really did, and that's why it's here. Meant to be recorded acoustically, we were so happy with our sounds on night 1 at The Dojo that we finished the night with 3 takes of this song fully electric, but subdued as well. The ending of the song is meant to capture that the spirits of this recording may fade in real life, but also that there is an imprint of them here in the last moments of the song, in the whole song, and in this album. We're here, and we'll always be here.
lyrics
Guide hawk landing on a light post
It knows I'm the one who’s hurting the most
But if I try too hard to hold on too close
I'll only wrap my arms around a ghost
If this
If this fades
I'll always be here
I'll never leave
If this
If this breaks
I won't be broken
I'll build me again
Cardinals ruling all of my skies
These sights serve as syncing signs
When new jailed eyes lock up mine
We see how brightly I can still shine
If this
If this fades
It could fade up
And soar endlessly
If this
If this breaks
There’ll be beautiful pieces
To sweep into space
Guide hawk gliding over my drive
Showed me this morning love is still alive
But if I try to hold on too close
I'll only wrap my arms around a ghost
If this
If this fades
I won't be broken
I’ll build me again
If this
If this fades
I'll always be here
